“More than ten years ago, I was sitting in a small restaurant in front of this land when I heard the owner was about to sell it to a developer. The lot held a tamarind tree over 150 years old — for Buddhists, cutting it down would bring bad karma. I told him I didn't want to destroy it. I wanted to build something that respects it instead — a place of calm and renewal.
That's how Ton Mai Spa was born — named after the Thai word for "old tree," in honor of the tamarind that still stands at the heart of the garden today.”
